Just what I wanted for a new iPhone. A special “Thank You” to artist ‘Serge Averbukh’ for the addition, at my request, to the design of my Navy rating, the lightening bolts (sparks as they are/were called) in the middle of the CPO insignia. I asked; he came through….When I use my phone, it brings back fond memories of my 20-year Navy career…. Thanks Serge….

Despite its small size, probably insignificant wildflowers to most, these colorful blooms always catch my attention. The Desert Globe Mallow (sphaeralcea ambigua), are bright orange-red or apricot, 5-petaled wildflowers, near the tips of weak, wide-ranging, sometimes sprawling stems.
When I first discovered them, I thought they only bloomed from May through July per the sources of some. I later read they actually bloom all year, as this January day will testify. I was capturing a famous rock formation in the Santa Cruz Valley near Green Valley, Arizona (USA), and low and behold this tiny bloom growing in the protection of a creosote bush, caught my attention. I just couldn't resist capturing such a colorful wildflower, through the branches of this creosote bush. Truly "A Spring Bloom's Winter!"
